An OnlyFans model will give birth in jail after she was the ringleader in a sickening attack at a popular hotel.
Talia Jade Haythorpe, 23, cruelly laughed while she kicked the defenceless man who was left with life changing injuries.
During sentencing, the District Court heard the victim attended the Watermark Hotel at Glenelg in September 2021.
As he was leaving the premises in the early hours of the morning, Haythorpe and a group of people approached him and initially engaged in friendly conversation.
“As the victim walked away from the conversation, he felt several blows to the back of his head and fell to the ground,” Judge Anthony Allen said.
“He felt excruciating pain to his right knee.”
The court heard Haythorpe, who was the ringleader, stood over the victim and kicked him in the head while laughing.
Haythorpe bit the victim of the arm before taking his wallet, with other members of the group kicking and punching him before stealing his phone and keys.
The group left but Haythorpe returned shortly afterwards.
“You approached the victim and asked for the PIN code to his phone and his bank details, before kicking him in the head once more,” Judge Allen said.
“It goes without saying that this was a completely unnecessary and unprovoked attack.”
Police observed the victim laying half on the road, half on the footpath in a very badly injured state at 2.38am.
He was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre where he was required to undergo surgery on his knee, which was fractured as a result of the attack.
Haythorpe, who has an OnlyFans link in her Facebook bio, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery.
In his victim impact statement, the victim described previously being a fit tradie and is now unable to return to work.
“He describes that he will never fully recover from the injuries inflicted upon him,” Judge Allen said.
The court heard Haythorpe, who had a traumatic upbringing, had a methamphetamine addiction and had been effectively homeless since 14.
“Against that background, it is somewhat remarkable that the offending that brings you before this court is your first incursion into criminal conduct,” Judge Allen said.
During sentencing submissions, Haythorpe’s counsel asked for a community based sentence, saying she had fallen pregnant while on bail and was currently 38 weeks.
However, Judge Allen said the offending was too serious for anything but immediate jail sentenced Haythorpe to two years and 11 months jail, with a non-parole period of one year and two months.
You were the ringleader of a vicious street robbery against an innocent member of the public, resulting in life-changing injuries to your victim,” he said.
The sentence was backdated to June 25.
