North Plympton woman likely linked to murders of Robert Atkins and Trevor King

Detectives are hoping the livery on three customised vans set to tour southern suburbs crime scenes will help reveal new clues to help solve two puzzling murders.

Brutal murders linked, police say (7NEWS)

A North Plymptom woman is “most likely” connected to two murders of southern suburbs men whose bodies have not been found, according to a senior detective.

Major Crime Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Superintendent Des Bray, announced the information along with the reveal of three Crime Scene Investigation vans, each wrapped in eye-catching photos and appeals for information of unsolved murder victims Trevor King, 41, Jeff Mundy, 36, and Robert Atkins, 31.

The vans will be driven through the southern suburbs from Thursday afternoon to crime scenes, part of the latest Task Force Southern move to catch those responsible for the unsolved murders.

Police hope the vans will encourage those with information to come forward as they patrol crime hot spots.

In December, Task Force Southern was launched to untangle a web of brutality in Adelaide’s southern suburbs that left at least three men dead over unpaid drug debts.

Rewards of up to $600,000 are being offered by SA Police for information relating to the murders.

Since the Task Force was launched, Crime Stoppers have received 81 calls.

Mr Atkins was held at the home of the North Plympton woman, before he was eventually taken to the Mid North and murdered, Superintendent Bray said.

“We know now that for part of the time where he was being held – that was at the home of a woman at North Plympton,” he said.

“And that same person may be connected with the offences that were committed against Trevor King previously.”

Superintendent Bray said the woman “provided their house and that person was a participant” in holding Mr Atkins against his will.

The woman was “most likely” involved in the murder of both Mr Atkins and Mr King, Superintendent Bray added.

A number of the 15 suspects police were investigating were already in prison on “unrelated matters”, he said.

Senior police suspect a drug-related crime group is responsible for three murders over the past two years – and has most likely committed more that have not yet been discovered.

Two weeks ago, Detective Supt Bray divulged that one of those deaths – Mr King – was a staged overdose that did not appear suspicious at the time.

Each of the individuals and the victims are known to police through the drug scene – primarily methamphetamine trafficking and consumption – in the southern suburbs.

Police have stressed that a single individual is not responsible or directing others to conduct all the murders and that some of the group was likely involved in one murder but not the others.
