A motorcyclist allegedly riding at over 100km/h in a 60km/h zone has been arrested after he was tracked by police for more than five hours.

About 8pm on Sunday, police were travelling on Westbury St, at Davoren Park, when they spotted a motorbike being ridden at speed.

Patrols followed the motorbike to Fordingbridge Rd where it allegedly accelerated at a speed in excess of 100km/h in a 60km/h zone, away from police.

PolAir, which was already proactively patrolling in the air, tracked the motorbike through the northern and north-eastern suburbs for a period of about five and a half hours.

During this time police will allege the rider disobeyed a number of red traffic lights and reached speeds in excess of 100km/h over the speed limit.

About 1.30am, the rider stopped to re-fuel on Crisp Rd, at Elizabeth Downs, and he was quickly arrested without incident.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with five counts of driving at an extreme speed, dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit, driving without due care, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, driving unlicensed and other traffic offences.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
