A motorcyclist who lost control and died in the Adelaide Hills on Tuesday was on his way to a rehab centre to visit his partner – who herself had been in a serious crash last month.
Gawler East father Brad Hill, 41, collided with an oncoming car on North East Rd at Inglewood about 3.30pm. He died at the scene.
Mr Hill was heading to visit his partner Daniiel Wilkey at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre after she was involved in a head-on-smash at Williamstown last month, 7NEWS reported.
Ms Wilkey’s sister, Kandiice Dickson, told of the family’s heartache after the two tragedies.
“It’s unheard of, it’s not something you think you have to go through,” she said.
“To almost lose someone and then a month later lose someone else, it’s just not fair.”
Ms Dickson said Mr Hill would frequently visit Ms Wilkey while she was recovering from her critical injuries.
“He was there every day for her, every day, he barely left her side,” she said.
“She would have to force him out of the hospital to have time on his own because he just wanted to be there looking after her every moment.”
CCTV footage from the Inglewood Inn showed the motorbike driving past the business just seconds before the crash.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
Mr Hill was the 15th motorcyclist to die on South Australian roads this year, compared to eight at the same time last year.
