A man has been assaulted and his Toyota Corolla stolen in a violent carjacking in a fast-food outlet’s carpark.

Police were called to the restaurant on Curits Rd at Munno Para just after midnight on Monday after reports a group of youths had threatened a man with a box cutter before stealing his phone and keys and making off with his car.

Police will allege the group approached the man as he was leaving the restaurant.

They said the group spoke to him as he got into the driver’s seat of his car – a dark blue Toyota Corolla.

Then, they said, one youth stropped him from closing his door and assaulted him.

The victim got out of the car, and a teen threatened him with a box cutter and grabbed his phone and car keys from his hands.

Police said the group all got into the car – registration S874CHG – and were last seen heading east on Curtis Rd.

The victim, a 27-year-old man from Marion, was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police are investigating and ask anyone who spots the stolen car to contact the police assistance line on 131 444.
