A man will face court today after allegedly assaulting a police officer and police dog who attended to reports of property damage overnight.
Police said they were called to Sheridan and Farr streets in Woodville North just before midnight on Wednesday, after reports a man had walked along the streets damaging windows at a number of homes.
Police responded, and police dog Duke and his handler located the suspect in the front yard of a home on Farr St.
There, the suspect allegedly threw a pot plant at the police dog handler and then assaulted Duke before the dog brought the man under control and he was taken into custody.
Police said Duke was not seriously injured but the 46-year-old Adelaide man was taken to hospital for treatment.
He is expected to be charged with being unlawfully on premises, property damage, hindering police and assaulting an emergency services worker and is expected to be refused bail.
