BMW collides with motorcycle, alleged drug driver crashes on SE freeway

A man will face court after crashing his car on the South-Eastern Freeway, while a motorcycle has collided with a BMW at Clarence Gardens.

Police are investigating after a young man was left with leg injuries following a crash between his motorcycle and a BMW at Clarence Gardens.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Cross Rd and Winston Ave about 8.10pm after reports of a collision.

The rider of the motorcycle, an 18-year-old man from Daw Park on his Ls, was taken to hospital for treatment for leg injuries.

The driver of a BMW was not injured in the crash.

This comes almost a month after loving father Steve Hackett was killed in a horrific crash at Noarlunga Downs.

Eighteen motorcyclists have been killed on our roads so far this year compared with 11 for the whole of 2022.

A further 150 motorcyclists have sustained serious injuries as a result of a crash this year.

Meanwhile, two men have been apprehended by police after separate drink and drug driving incidents in Adelaide overnight.

A 48-year-old man has been reported for drink driving after he returned a positive blood alcohol reading almost four times the legal limit after he crashed into a bus.

Police were called to Midway Rd at Elizabeth East about 9.45pm after a Toyota HiLux crashed into the back of a stationary bus.

The driver of the HiLux was taken to a police station where he allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.181.

The Craigmore man was reported for drink driving and driving without due care.

He lost his licence immediately for 12 months and will appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile, police were called to the downtrack on the South Eastern Freeway about 10.40pm after reports a Holden sedan crashed into a guard rail near the Toll Gate.

Once police arrived, they submitted the 34-year-old driver to a roadside drug test and he allegedly returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.

He did not sustain any injuries.

Further checks on his licence also revealed he was disqualified from driving.

The Nailsworth man was reported for disqualified driving, due care and attention.

The man may also face drug driving charges pending results of a forensic analysis.

His car was impounded for 28 days. He will appear in court at a later date.

Two women were also reported for drink driving on the Yorke Peninsula on Saturday night.

Yorke Mid North Highway Patrols stopped a car on Adam St at Ardrossan just after 9pm and submitted the female driver to a breath test.

The 65-year-old woman allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.166 and was reported for drink driving and issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence.

A short time later, another car was stopped on Main Coast Rd after the driver, a 61-year-old woman, was clocked travelling at 116km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The woman was submitted to a breath test and she allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.050.

She was issued with an expiation notice for speeding and drink driving.
