A member of the Hells Angels North Crew who knocked his former partner unconscious is back behind bars for allegedly breaching his home detention sentence.

Chad Alexander McGregor, 29, was sentenced to two years, eights months and 29 days in prison with a non-parole period of one year, three months and 29 days.

The sentence was for the “cruel” bashing of his former partner in 2019, which included twice slamming her head into the floor and knocking her unconscious.

During sentencing in June this year, Nick Vadasz, for McGregor, urged District Court Judge Ian Press to allow his client to remain in the community.

Mr Vadasz cited both the time since the offending and McGregor’s progress in overcoming chronic methamphetamine addiction.

Judge Press allowed for the sentence to be served on home detention.

However, last week McGregor once again appeared in the District Court, this time via video link from the Adelaide Remand Centre.

An affidavit from the Corrections Department released to The Advertiser alleges McGregor had breached his home detention conditions multiple times since his sentencing on June 3.

The report states that on July 7, August 9 and August 26, McGregor tested positive to methamphetamines, amphetamines and THC.

The THC reading was explained as being the result of McGregor’s prescribed medical cannabis.

In June and September, McGregor is accused of letting his home detention ankle monitor dip below the minimum 20 per cent battery charge.

On September 13, intensive corrections officers were dispatched to McGregor’s Smithfield Plains home after the battery on the monitor dropped to only 4 per cent.

He was allegedly abusive to the officers when they knocked at his door.

Also in September, McGregor was supposed to begin a specialist family violence course as part of his home detention sentence.

The Corrections report alleges that he arrived several hours late on the first day and then did not attend at all after that.

District Court Judge Geraldine Davison was asked by prosecutors to revoke McGregor’s home detention sentence.

McGregor asked for time to seek legal advice, telling the court he had only just been released from isolation where he could not make any phone calls.

He will appear in court again later this month.

At the time of his sentencing, McGregor’s social media was awash with photos of himself in Hells Angels colours and insignia including their slogan “Support The 81” as well as the logo of the North Crew, one of the three chapters of the gang operating in South Australia.

Since then many of the photos have been removed.
