Emergency services are responding to a person hit by a train at Black Forest near the Emerson Railway Station.

The alert for a heavy rescue response came just before 11am this morning. Rail services have stopped on the Seaford line between Adelaide and Oaklands.

A strip of South Rd has also been temporarily closed and the adjoining Emerson road is lined with ambulances, MFS and police.

Commuters remained on the train while emergency services attended to the injured individual, but closer to noon they were allowed to step off the train and were redirected to the nearest bus stop on Cross Rd.

Bobby Litchfield, 26, was on the express train to see his grandmother when he heard the ominous loud thud.

“I was seated at the front of the train near the door and I heard a thud,” he said.

“The train stopped, then there was an announcement and they said there were some technical issues.”

Mr Litchfield said he saw emergency services arriving very quickly which suggested to him the severity of the issue was much worse than what was originally suggested in the announcement.

He also said some police officers stepped onto the train shortly after the incident to speak to passengers and gather additional information.

A woman, who has asked to remain anonymous said she did not suspect the true circumstances of the situation until much later on.

She said she and her friends were actually laughing at the way the train was moving.

“We were actually laughing about the train because it was really rocky,” she said.

“We thought there was a flat tyre or something and obviously we didn’t figure it out until the train stopped and emergency services arrived.”

A police spokesman said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
