A Kudla man has died at the scene of a horrific crash between a car and truck at Reeves Plains on Monday.
Emergency services were called to Gawler Rd, Reeves Plains, near Gawler about 2.15pm on Thursday afternoon after reports a car and truck had collided.
The driver, a 53-year-old man and sole occupant of the sedan died at the scene, after his vehicle was partially crushed by the truck.
The truck driver, a 52-year-old man from One Tree Hill, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
It is the 82nd life lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 54 the same time last year.
Firefighters and ambulances were also at the scene.
Gawler Road was closed to traffic between Boundary Rd and Aunger Rd, while emergency services and Major Crash Officers attended to the scene.
Greyhound trainer Laura Mumby, 56, lives on Aunger Rd and said she knew something was wrong when her dogs started barking about ten minutes before ambulances arrived.
She said locals recently voiced concerns on a residents’ Facebook group about the 100 km/h speed limit and potholes on the road potentially leading to accidents.
“I always wondered why it’s not 80 or 90 km/h because it’s an animal husbandry area,” Ms Mumby said.
She has been a resident of the area for 28 years and said the accident “wasn’t surprising”.
“A lot of people don’t like the road … The worst part is the tailgating and the speed limit, people get right up your back and try overtaking.”
Earlier, two cars were involved in a crash at a regional town near Victor Harbor, also causing road closures in the area.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Inman Valley Rd and Pages Rd, Back Valley, about 10kms from Victor Harbor after reports of a two-car collision.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 10:15am on Thursday.
Police said Inman Valley Rd is currently blocked to all traffic, with motorists being urged to avoid the area.
