A 78-year-old man has become the 58th life lost on SA roads this year following a serious crash at Blewitt Springs.

A motorcyclist has died following a serious crash south of Adelaide on Thursday.

The 78-year-old man from Port Noarlunga South, sadly died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Chapel Hill Rd in Blewitt Springs, about 40km south of Adelaide, around 3:30pm after reports that a motorcyclist had hit a tree.

The incident prompted road closures between Schuller Rd and Blewitt Springs Rd, lasting several hours while Major Crash Investigators examined the scene.

Chapel Hill Road was later reopened just after 7pm.

The man’s death is the 58th life lost on our roads this year.
