Elizabeth East man caught red-handed hiding in home amid break in

A man has been caught red-handed after a police dog finds him hiding in the laundry during a break in at Elizabeth East.

A man has been charged with serious criminal trespass, property damage and breach of bail after he was found hiding in an Elizabeth East home overnight.

At about 2.10am on Tuesday, December 26, police were called to Benham Street after reports of an alarm activation.

When northern patrols arrived they found the front door had been forced open.

Police set cordons in place around the house and called in police dog Chaos to assist.

Chaos found the suspect hiding in the laundry and police placed the 33-year-old Elizabeth East man under arrest.

He was charged with serious criminal trespass, property damage and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 27.

There was no one at home at the time of the break in.
