A woman critically injured in a horror e-bike crash has pulled through, with her helmet believed to have made the difference.
Skye Barker, 28, had just started making her way home after visiting friends when she seemingly lost control of her electric bike and crashed into a white Hyundai sedan on Bains Rd at Morphett Vale around 10.30pm on Monday.
Friend Matthew Browning was among several residents who rushed out to help before paramedics arrived.
“She got out of control quite quickly, speared across the road and in order to stop herself from running into the houses, has wrenched it sideways as best she could,” he told 7NEWS.
“She was on the grass and more or less did a big loop around while her feet were dragging behind her, out of control.”
She was rushed to Flinders Medical Centre in a critical condition with multiple suspected broken bones. The helmet she was wearing is believed to have prevented more serious injuries.
Health officials confirmed she had thankfully improved and was in a stable condition on Wednesday.
The driver of the car – an 18-year-old woman from Christies Beach – was not injured.
Major Crash officers are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
