A man charged over an alleged knifepoint carjacking that ended in a rooftop standoff has not entered pleas to his charges, with defence counsel telling a court they need more information.

Dwayne Haggerty’s lawyers on Thursday asked Magistrate John Wells for an adjournment before their client answered the charges in Adelaide Magistrates Court.

They submitted they were still waiting on evidence from prosecution relating to a photo identification packet presented to a witness to the offending – and information about the triple-0 call made.

The court previously heard police prosecution allege two men booked a rideshare driver through an app just after 2am that morning, before threatening the driver with a knife and forcing him out of his Toyota sedan.

At 3am, police used the car’s tracking system to follow it to West Ave at Edinburgh, with the Polair helicopter chasing the vehicle from above until the suspects dumped it on Burton Rd at Paralowie and fled on foot.

Police said one of the alleged offenders then climbed on to the roof of a house, prompting a six-hour standoff with officers.

Prosecution said Mr Haggerty then climbed on to the roof of a house, prompting a six-hour standoff with officers and police negotiators.

He was not charged with any offences relating to the standoff.

Prosecution confirmed the evidence applied for by defence was pending and would be supplied once received from the investigative team handling the case.

Mr Wells granted the application, and remanded Mr Haggerty on continuing home detention bail until his next appearance in July.
