An alleged one-punch assault outside a Hindley St venue involved further violence including pushing, shoving and two blows to the victim’s head, a court has heard.
Daniel Gustavvson, 22, of Para Hills, made his first Adelaide Magistrates Court appearance on Thursday following his arrest in December last year.
He has yet to plead to one basic count of committing an assault that caused harm.
That charge arises from an alleged incident outside the Woolshed Hotel in the early hours of December 23.
Emergency services were called to the venue following reports a man, 27, from Seaford Meadows, had been found unconscious on the street outside.
He was rushed to hospital where his condition, considered serious, was stabilised.
Police alleged witnesses said the man had been punched by a caucasian male with a shoulder-length blond mullet, who left the area shortly after.
Police subsequently arrested Mr Gustavvson, alleging he had punched the Seaford Meadows man in the back of the head.
In the case summary filed with the court, however, police prosecutors make different allegations.
They allege CCTV footage shows “pushing and shoving with the victim and the accused” and Mr Gustavvson “punching the victim twice in the head”.
In court on Wednesday, counsel for Mr Gustavvson asked the case be adjourned so they could seek access to and view the CCTV footage.
They said the alleged victim’s medical records would “also dictate” whether or not the charge “could be resolved” by way of plea.
Mr Gustavvson was remanded on continuing bail to face court again in May.
