CRASH IN CBD

A two-car crash on Morphett St is restricting city traffic.

The crash happened near Andrew St just before 1pm Saturday.

There were no reported serious injuries, but one lane north bound between Franklin St and Grote St is blocked while crews attend to clear the scene.

Police ask motorists to drive with care.

ROBBERY AT CITY STORE

A who threatened staff with a pole before making off with stolen goods at a city convenience store remains at large

The man entered the Gouger St store about 6.30pm Friday and started placing items in a bag.

When staff approached the man he threatened them with a pole and left without paying for the goods.

Staff were not physically injure.

Police searched the area but weren’t able to locate the suspect.

He is described as having olive skin, slim build, about 180cm tall, wearing a grey t-shirt, Nike cap, khaki shorts, a blue back pack with a bum bag hanging around his neck.

HOLD UP AT ST PETERS

A man is on the run after an attempted robbery at a St Peters service station.

The suspect entered the store on Stephen Tce about 5.45am Saturday and made verbal threats to staff, demanding cash. The staff refused and the man left empty-handed.

Police were searching the area for the man described as caucasian, aged 25 to 30, with brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a red plaid lumber jack style shirt, dark pants, black fingerless gloves and a backpack.

STOLEN CAR TRACKED

Three teenagers have been arrested after doing burnouts before leading police on a pursuit in a stolen car in Adelaide’s south.

The car was spotted driving recklessly on Lindisfarne Rd at Huntfield Heights about 10pm Friday.

Police spotted the white Range Rover leaving the area at speed in the car which had been stolen from Rosslyn Park this week.

Police cordoned surrounding streets, and the police helicopter was deployed.

The car was tracked to Goldsmith Drive and made it’s way through the backstreets of Christie Downs and onto the Southern Expressway.

The car then drove on to Marion Rd and was dumped on Cutting St, as occupants fled the car on foot.

Police arrested three teens nearby.

The alleged driver, a Ferryden Park boy, 16, was charged with breaching bail, aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use, aggravated engage in a police pursuit and driving disqualified.

A Pennington boy, 17, was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and a Salisbury Park boy, 16 was charged with breaching bail.

They were refused police bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

TRESPASS AT SALISBURY HEIGHTS

A group of suspects are on the run after stealing a man’s belongings in a home invasion at Salisbury Heights.

Four men approached a man in his kitchen about 6.15am Friday, before running from his home on Birt Ave with the victim’s wallet, cards and cash.

BORDER BUBBLE CLOSES

South Australia’s border bubble has been revoked only a week after it was reinstated, SA Police announced in a direction published Friday night.

As of 6pm, travellers from Broken Hill may now enter the state only if they have an exemption or require emergency medical treatment.

There are currently two active cases in Broken Hill, after NSW announced a new case on Friday.

CAR HIT BY FREIGHT TRAIN AT MURRAY BRIDGE

A man has suffered serious injuries after the car he was driving was hit by a freight train at Murray Bridge.

The car was hit and rolled on impact just before 12.30pm Friday, at the intersection of Edmund Tce and Mannum Rd.

The elderly driver was treated by paramedics and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

The intersections of Edmund Tce, Mannum Rd and Railway Terrace are closed and diversions are in place at Cypress Ave.

The train line will be closed in both directions for several hours while police investigate.

DRIVER DIES IN NOARLUNGA CRASH

An elderly man has died after driving through a shopfront in the car park of a Noarlunga shopping centre.

The white SUV crashed into the glass shop window at the Colonnades Shopping Centre about 11.15pm Friday.

The Reynella man behind the wheel, who was 82, died at the scene.

Early investigations have determined the man may have had a medical episode prior to the crash.

His female passenger, 79, was shaken by the incident but not physically injured.

Major Crash Investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances that led to the crash.

WA MAN TO FACE SA COURT

A Western Australian man will face court in Adelaide for allegedly travelling under a false identity, and smoking on a plane.

Local and national police officers met the man at Adelaide Airport on August 30, after he allegedly smoked inside a plane’s toilet on a flight from Perth.

When officers questioned the man, he did not have identification but provided his electronic itinerary in the name of a 20-year-old Perth man.

He told officers other details that suggested he was older than 20.

The man was charged with a host of offences including providing false information of a Commonwealth official.

He will face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.

ROLLOVER IN WET WEATHER AT NORTHERN SUBURBS

A woman had to be retrieved from her vehicle just after 10am on Thursday after it rolled down an embankment at Penfield, in Adelaide’s north.

MFS and CFS crews extricated the woman who reportedly lost control of her vehicle in the severe weather lashing the state.

KNIFEPOINT SERVO ROBBERY AT FULHAM

A service station at Fulham has been robbed at knifepoint, with cash stolen.

At 2am on Thursday police were called to a service station on Henley Beach Road after a hold up alarm was activated by a staff member.

A man entered the service station and threatened the console operator with a knife, demanding cash.

Cash was stolen and the man was last seen running north on Tapleys Hill Road.

The console operator was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as being of caucasian appearance, aged 20-25 years-old, 175cm tall, slim build and clean shaven.

He was wearing a black hoody with a logo on the left side of the chest and grey track pants.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27

CRASH ON VICTOR HARBOR RD

A man has been taken to hospital after a bus and ute crashed, forcing the closure of a major road for most of the morning.

The car and mini bus crashed at Victor Harbor Rd, McLaren Vale about 8.30am Wednesday, disrupting peak hour commuters. The road was closed between Ostrich Farm Rd and Robinson Rd until just after 12.30pm.

The driver of the white ute was trapped for some time and eventually freed by emergency services workers.

The 34-year-old man was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

All passengers of the mini bus were not harmed.

Diversions were in place while crews worked to clear the scene.

Meanwhile, an out-of-control grassfire was reported on Victor Harbor Rd, further south.

The fire was reported just before 9am, at Mt Compass.

Two CFS fire trucks and a bulk water carrier contained the blaze.

The cause is not known.

SHARK SPOTTED AT SEMAPHORE

A Bronze Whaler was spotted at the end of the Semaphore jetty on Wednesday, with police issuing a warning to swimmers.

The two to three metre shark was spotted at 3 o clock, but a police spokeswoman said that no one needed to be evacuated from the water as there was no one swimming nearby.

ARRESTS AT UNLEY

A man and a boy were arrested after they were found hiding in a rear yard at Unley.

Police noticed two males carrying a large sports bag, with one wearing a black mask and the other wearing a balaclava on Unley Rd about 4.30am Wednesday.

The patrol did a U-turn to speak to the duo but they ran off and dumped the bag behind a business.

Patrols cordoned the area and Police Dog Rusty sniffed out the suspect hiding in a rear yard on Charles St.

The man, 24, and boy, 15, both from Rostrevor, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession, unlawfully on premises, going equipped and carrying an article of disguise.

The man was further charged with possessing a prohibited weapon after he was found in possession of a knuckle duster.

They were bailed to appear in court in December.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26

SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN CBD

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following a suspicious house fire in the city on Tuesday.

Just before 11.30am, emergency services were called to a house on Norman St following reports of a fire.

There was significant damage to the home, as well as the reported injury.

Luckily, surrounding properties were not seriously damaged.

Fire cause investigators attended and the blaze is being treated as suspicious.

HOUSE FIRE IN SOUTHERN SUBURBS

A woman and two children safely evacuated after a backyard shed erupted in flames at Christie Downs on Tuesday afternoon.

About 2.15pm, firefighters were called to a home on Bridgid Street following reports of a blaze.

The family got out but it took crews 90 minutes to extinguish the fire because of the risk associated with fuel and gas that was stored nearby.

An estimated $60,000 in damage was caused to the shed, carport and part of a bedroom.

Fire cause investigators are still investigating how the fire started.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER CRASH

A wanted man has been arrested after crashing his car into an embankment on the down track of the South-Eastern Freeway.

Witnesses said the driver got out of the car after crashing and became aggressive and behaved erratically about 8.15pm Monday.

Police attended and took the Reynella man, 28, to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

He was later charged with driving without due care, property damage, acts to endanger life, throwing a missile and breaching bail.

He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in a bedside video hearing on Tuesday.

ROBBERY AT NORWOOD

A teenager has been arrested after a service station robbery at Norwood.

The youth allegedly entered a service station on The Parade about 12.30am Monday and said she had a weapon.

She demanded cash and left on foot heading south on Elizabeth St.

No-one was injured and no weapon was sighted.

The suspect, a teenage girl, 17, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

She was refused police bail and is expected to face the Adelaide Youth Court on Tuesday.

DISTINCT THEFT IN FAR NORTH

A rare animal trap was stolen from the Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park.

The Felixer 3 prototype is one of five in the country used to trap wild cats and foxes.

It contains poison which is fatal to medium sized animals, and police warn it could kill a domestic sized animal.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25

MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN SUMMERTOWN

A motorcyclist has suffered lacerations to his leg after colliding with a car on Greenhill Rd in Summertown.
The incident occurred about 11:15am on Sunday when the motorcyclist – who was riding in a group – collided with the car.

The rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It’s the second incident involving a motorcycle in the Adelaide Hills in as many days, with one rider, a 50-year-old Greenwith man, dying on Saturday.

UBER DRIVER ASSAULTED, CAR STOLEN ON THE JOB

Five teenagers have been arrested after allegedly assaulting an Uber driver and stealing his car in the northern suburbs on Saturday night.

Just before 11pm on Saturday, October 23, police were called to a Parafield Gardens address where they spoke to an uber driver who had allegedly been assaulted by a group of people who had ordered the Uber, who then stole his Kia Sportage.

A 14-year-old boy from Parafield Gardens remained at the scene and was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for minor injuries.

Members of the public phoned police advising of a silver Kia being driven erratically, at high speed and on the wrong side of the road at Ingle Farm and Klemzig.

About 12.30am on Sunday, October 24, a resident on Clarence Ave reported that a silver Kia collided with a parked car and the occupants had fled the area on foot.

PolAir tracked the suspects and with the assistance of patrols Dog Operations Unit and four suspects were arrested.

All four people were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault.

A 19-year-old man from Seaton and a 15-year-old girl from Golden Grove were charged.

An 18-year-old man from Henley Beach was further charged with driving without due care and breaching his learners permit conditions.

A 15-year-old girl from Clearview was also charged with assaulting police.

The 14-year-old boy was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court on Monday, October 25.

The 18-year-old man was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 25 October.

The two girls and the 19-year-old were granted police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in November.

HOON HITS PEDESTRIAN

A pedestrian has been injured and a car totalled after a vehicle doing a burnout lost control at Elizabeth Downs early on Sunday morning.

At about 2.30am on Sunday, police were called to Campbell Road at Elizabeth Downs after reports of a car colliding with a parked car and pedestrian.

Police will allege the driver of a silver Ford sedan was performing burnouts in the street when he lost control and collided into a parked car, a large tree and a collected a pedestrian standing on the street.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman from Elizabeth Downs, suffered an arm injury as a result of the crash. She was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital where she was treated.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Newton, submitted to a breath test and provided a positive result of 0.123. He was reported for drink driving, misuse of a motor vehicle, causing harm by dangerous driving and breaching his provisional licence conditions.

He also received a six-month immediate loss of licence.

The Ford sedan was extensively damaged as a result of the crash.

PORT NEILL DRINK DRIVER LOSES CAR AND LICENCE

A Port Neill man caught driving 70km/h over the speed limit has lost both his licence and vehicle.

Just after 9pm on Friday, a four-wheel-drive was detected travelling at 183km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Lincoln Highway, Port Neill.

The driver, a 46-year-old Port Neill man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.169, more than three times the legal limit.

He was reported for driving in a speed and manner dangerous to the public and drink driving. He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police will be making application to the courts for forfeiture of the motor vehicle as the driver has been convicted of previous drink driving offences in the past 12 months.

TWO CAR FIRES COULD BE LINKED

Two deliberately lit car fires occurred overnight which police say could be linked.

About 4.15am on Sunday, police and MFS crews were called to the Klemzig Reserve on North East Road at Klemzig after reports of a Holden Astra hatchback that had been set alight.

A silver-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the area soon after.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the vehicle.

Just after 5am, emergency services were called to Frome Ave in Hampstead Gardens after a witness reported seeing three men breaking in to a Mitsubishi Lancer parked in the street. The car was then set on fire.

The trio then left the scene in a stolen white Toyota Corolla, with South Australian registration of S326CKO.

MFS officers extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the inside of the Lancer.
