Convicted sex offender Peter Wayne Snodgrass could be jailed for 12 more years after pleading guilty to child exploitation crimes

Not content with secretly filming his clients, this perverted chiropractor also possessed child exploitation material – now he faces a maximum additional penalty of up to 12 years.

What to do if you think a child is being abused

A sexual pervert and former chiropractor already serving 10 years’ jail has pleaded guilty to possessing exploitation material of children as young as 14.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Peter Wayne Snodgrass pleaded guilty to one basic and one aggravated count of possessing child exploitation material.

Until now, The Advertiser could not publish details of the new charges – nor report Snodgrass had even been accused – due to legal restrictions.

Any reporting of the case would, because of his prior convictions for filming 216 women without their knowledge or consent, have the potential to prejudice his right to a fair trial.

Snodgrass used hidden cameras to secretly film his female clients – both adults and children.

His confession, however, means the case can be reported for the first time – and also means he faces up to 12 more years being added to his prison term.

Snodgrass, 50, was sentenced to 10 years’ jail for 216 sex crime offences committed at his Rostrevor practice between 2012 and 2017.

He pleaded guilty to secretly using hidden and handheld cameras to film women and girls as young as 11, and to indecently assaulting some of them.

Despite presenting himself, to the public, as “a man of integrity”, he claimed in court he had a “sex addiction” and “just wanted to see more boobs”.

A psychologist warned Snodgrass’ confession to those charges represented “shame rather than guilt” just before he filed an appeal, claiming his sentence was “manifestly excessive”.

Last month, the Court of Criminal Appeal unanimously rejected Snodgrass’ challenge.

On Tuesday, Snodgrass pleaded guilty to possessing the exploitation material at Crafers West in June 2017.

He was remanded in custody to face the District Court next month, when a date will be set for sentencing submissions.
