A child abuser who led police to his paedophile then-boyfriend, who was assaulting kids at an Adelaide childcare centre, has been jailed.

A sex abuser who maintains his innocence, and who helped convict his ex-boyfriend of abusing children at a childcare centre, has been jailed for his offending.

On Friday, the District Court sentenced Kane Graham Rockley to three years and four days' jail, with a non-parole period of two years, four months and 28 days.

In sentencing, Judge Ian Press said Rockley was "passive" and "lacked self-confidence", but neither could excuse the offences he committed while in a relationship with Bronte Ciracovitch.

A child abuser who maintains his innocence says he deserves a sentencing discount because he helped convict his ex-boyfriend of abusing children at a childcare centre.

On Wednesday, Kane Graham Rockley asked the District Court to show him leniency – and also keep his co-operation with authorities a secret.

David Moen, for Rockley, said his client should be given credit for helping prosecutors build their case against Bronte John Ciracovitch, and said he also deserved protection from his former lover.

“Whether Ciracovitch knows about this co-operation or not, he’s being held in the same prison facility as my client and they’ve come into contact on one occasion,” he said.

“If this is published, I have some concerns for my client as a result of the volatile nature of dominance of Ciracovitch over him.

“It could well have an impact on my client’s incarceration.”

Rockley, 36, was found guilty at trial of multiple offences including disseminating child exploitation material.

His arrest led police to his former boyfriend, childcare worker Bronte Ciracovitch, who serving a 14-year sentence for offences committed against children too young to speak.

Ciracovitch’s offending resulted in warnings being sent to 180 families in the northern suburbs.

On Wednesday, Mr Moen said his client gave a statement against Ciracovitch on May 7, 2021, before the duo were ordered to stand trial.

Mr Moen said his client did not accept the jury’s verdict and had filed an appeal.

Prosecutors said that showed Rockley had neither insight nor remorse into his offending and deserved no leniency.

Bronte John Ciracovitch is one of SA’s worst paedophiles and is serving a 14-year jail term for abusing children at a northern-suburbs childcare centre.

They rejected any suggestion Rockley was “subservient” to a “dominant” Ciracovitch during their offending.

Mr Moen noted Ciracovitch’s guilty plea and said that, while he could not be sure the statement had helped, Rockley should still receive a benefit.

When he applied for a suppression order, The Advertiser pointed out Rockley’s intention to give evidence against Ciracovitch was discussed in open court on May 10, 2021.

Judge Ian Press said he could not impose a suppression order in those circumstances.

He remanded Rockley in custody for sentencing in February.
