Car falls three metres off bridge at Cambrai, near Nuriootpa while another crashes into a house

A Victor Harbor man who drove his car through a guard rail remains in a stable condition. The dog involved in the crash was not injured.

A man who drove his car through a guard rail and off a bridge is in a stable condition at the Royal Adelaide Hospital after he was flown there by paramedics.

Emergency services rushed to the serious crash at about 7.25pm on Friday when they were alerted to the single-vehicle crash along Black Hill Rd in Cambrai, about 40 minutes south west of Nuriootpa, after receiving reports a Toyota Land Cruiser had fallen three metres off a bridge.

A police spokesman said the driver, a 37-year-old Victor Harbor man, was flown to the RAH were he remains in a stable condition after receiving non-life threatening injures.

A dog in the car was not injured.

At the time of the incident a police spokesman said the driver was in the care of paramedics and was “conscious and breathing”.

Local traffic police are currently investigating the incident.

The car is scheduled to be towed away today.

Later that night a man was reported after crashing his car into a house and car at Semaphore South while drink driving.

At 9pm on Friday, police and emergency services were called to Swan Tce after a Holden sedan collided with a house.

Luckily the driver, along with the occupants of the home were not injured.

Police breath tested the driver who allegedly produce a blood alcohol reading of 0.129, more than double the legal limit.

A 28-year-old man from Darlington was reported for driving without due car and drink driving.

He was issued with a six month instant loss of licence and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
