The woman and sole occupant of a car that ran off the road and into a block of units in Adelaide’s inner-south early Wednesday morning has died.
The 45-year-old woman from Clarence Park left Goodwood Road at Daw Park, hit a kerb and crashed into the apartment block.
The death is the 60th on South Australian roads this year, compared with 38 at the same time last year.
Police were called to the accident about 3.30am on Wednesday morning, with roads closed for several hours while major crash investigators examined the scene.
7NEWS’ Peter Caldicott told FIVEaa it was an “unbelievable scene”.
He said the car appeared to be heading west on Doncaster Rd when it lost control, drove across Goodwood Road, hit a kerb and became airborne, crashing “halfway up” into a building above a six-foot-high fence.
All lanes travelling north and south on Goodwood Road were blocked from the intersection of Daws Road and Springbank Road until Piccadilly Crescent but were later reopened with speed restrictions.
