An off-duty taxi driver has made his first court appearance over a crash that injured five people, wrecked a vehicle and caused prolonged traffic delays.
Arshdeep Singh faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Mr Singh, 20, of Klemzig, has yet to plead to five aggravated counts of causing harm by dangerous driving.
He has been further charged with one aggravated count, and one basic count, of driving without due care and refusing or failing to submit to an alcotest.
The charges arise from an incident at Old Noarlunga in September when a taxi crashed into a brick wall at the corner of Seaford Rd and Main South Rd.
Two girls, both 16, a woman, 18, a boy, 14, and a man, 26, were all hospitalised with non life-threatening injuries.
Police allege Mr Singh, who sustained minor injuries, was the taxi’s driver and was off-duty at the time of the crash.
On Monday, counsel for Mr Singh said prosecutors wanted 14 weeks to determine whether or not they would proceed with the charges as laid.
Mr Singh was remanded to face court again in February.
He made no comment as he left court.
