Arrest of alleged Hells Angels member Dylan Danaher linked to escalating bikie violence

These are the two men police believe could be at the heart of recent escalating violence and shootings between feuding bikie gangs in Adelaide’s suburbs.

The arrest of an alleged member of the Hells Angels has been linked to a spate of violence and shootings between two feuding bikie gangs.

Dylan Danaher, 26, was arrested on June 27 at his Happy Valley home by armed police.

Police have alleged they found a hand gun with ammunition suitable for firing found nearby.

Mr Danaher was charged with breaching a firearms prohibition order and possessing a prescribed firearm.

During a brief court hearing he did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

On Wednesday, Mr Danaher’s arrest was linked to a larger police effort to stem what they believe is a budding conflict between the Hells Angels and the Comancheros.

Police also announced that an alleged member of the Comancheros, later identified as Ethan Ericson, 26, had been arrested and charged with firing a shotgun into the front of a house.

The shooting targeted an Ingle Farm property which was shot around 7.30pm on June 23.

Police found damage to the door, window, a garage roller door and located a shotgun casing.

Mr Ericson was charged with discharging a firearm to frighten or annoy, affray and possession of a firearm without a licence.

He too did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

Crime Gangs Detective Chief Inspector David Huddy did not rule out further arrests in the investigation.

“Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs are an ever present threat to the community and police will take every opportunity to arrest, disable and dismantle the gangs and their criminal enterprises,” he said.

“In the past few weeks we have made arrests of two Hells Angels members who were found unlawfully in possession of firearms and ammunition and in breach of firearms prohibition orders. We will continue to work tirelessly to prevent this behaviour in our community.”

Police did not go into details about what they believe sparked the confrontations between the two gangs.

However, the Comancheros have been weakened in the last year by the arrests of at least 15 of their full members as part of Operation Ironside.

Many of those, which include the state president, sergeant-at-arms and treasurer have been remanded in custody and are awaiting the outcomes of legal challenges likely to take at least until the end of the year to complete.

Police are yet to locate the firearm used in the Ingle Farm shooting and are asking the public with any information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, and you can remain anonymous.
