An alleged killer driver who successfully brokered a 93 per cent reduction in her maximum sentence will stand trial, having also denied the lesser charge.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Janine Lusher pleaded not guilty to one aggravated count of driving without due care.
Ms Lusher, 62, was originally charged with causing the death of a man, 82, by dangerous driving following a crash on Lower North East Road, Highbury, in December last year.
In June, her counsel successfully brokered a plea bargain with prosecutors that saw her matter downgraded to the lesser charge of aggravated driving without due care.
That reduced the maximum penalty, of 15 years jail, by 93 per cent to a possible prison sentence of just 12 months.
On Thursday, Bill Morris, for Ms Lusher, confirmed his client would contest the lessened charge and that a trial was required.
Counsel for the Director of Public Prosecutions said they would remain on the case, despite Magistrates Court trials normally being conducted by SA Police.
Ms Lusher was remanded on continuing bail until September.
