The man who allegedly killed a good Samaritan with a TV can be revealed as court orders suppressing his identity have been lifted.

The Advertiser can reveal that Scott Danny Malcolm France, of Gilberton, is accused of killing William “Bill” Brassil, 65, in Parafield Gardens last year.

During a court hearing on Thursday, Magistrate Justin Wickens revoked suppression orders put in place to keep Mr France’s name from the public to allow prosecutors to investigate the death.

During that same hearing, prosecutors withdrew one count of aggravated assault, but confirmed five other charges were proceeding.

Mr France is yet to enter a plea to one count of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated commit assault that causes harm with a weapon and one count of aggravated cause harm with intent.

It is alleged France, 30, had allegedly been arguing with a former domestic partner at about 8pm on August 29.

That former partner told police that he began arguing and shouting at her, before she left the address to look for help.

“She stopped outside (Mr Brassil’s home) and spoke to him. He asked if she was okay,” the documents allege.

“She asked him to call police as (the man) was screaming at her. She states she observed the accused advancing towards her, so she jumped over the fence and into the victim’s front yard.

“The accused picked up a brick and threw it at her, but missed.”

Mr Brassil’s partner, Kym Clausen, allegedly told police the woman had told them the man “is going to murder me”.

“The male appeared carrying a black television screen in both hands. He then walked along the fence line and threw it at Brassil,” the documents allege.

“The male picked up another paver and threw it.”

Prosecutors allege CCTV vision, captured at the property, shows the man throwing both the television and a paver at Mr Brassil’s head.

They further allege a tree branch was used to assault one of the people.

Counsel for Mr France on Thursday asked the matter be adjourned for a month to allow them to take instructions before he entered a plea.

Mr Wickens adjourned the matter, with Mr France to appear in court again in May.
