A man has been arrested at Adelaide Airport after attempting to remove an electronic tracking device before boarding a plane to Perth.

A man has been arrested at Adelaide Airport after he allegedly tried to cut off an electronic ankle bracelet before travelling interstate.

Australian Federal Police officers were called to the domestic check-in area on Thursday afternoon to reports that a passenger who appeared to be wearing an electronic tracking bracelet had entered a public bathroom.

The passenger initially refused requests to exit the bathroom, but eventually complied with police instructions.

Officers located a pair of scissors in a bin and believe the man was trying to cut off the bracelet.

The man, from Adelaide, was arrested and charged with offences relating to attempted breach of bail and attempting to travel under a false name.

It is believed the man was intending to travel to Perth.

The accused faced court earlier today and did not apply for bail.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in court again at a later date.
