An Adelaide mother has pleaded guilty to committing almost 40 exploitation offences against her own twins – but maintains she did not personally sexually abuse them.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, the woman, 44, pleaded guilty to 37 offences including possessing and producing child exploitation material, and facilitating abuse.
In response, prosecutors withdrew a further 24 charges, but the woman pleaded not guilty to three charges.
She denied having indecently assaulted the children personally – meaning she will now both stand trial on one set of charges and face sentencing submissions on the remainder.
The woman and her ex-partner, 26, were arrested after police alleged each repeatedly abused her children, both together and on their own.
Police further alleged that, while a couple, they went “spotting” in shopping malls for more victims.
They further alleged the mother tried to psychologically manipulate the children from her jail cell, following her arrest, by “love-bombing” them in letters.
Last month, the man pleaded guilty to almost 40 charges – he is not the children’s father, who is not and never has been accused nor suspected of wrongdoing.
On Tuesday, the woman was remanded in custody to face the District Court in February, when dates will be set for her separate sentencing submissions and trial.
