A man will face court after he crashed his car at Waterloo Corner this morning before leaving the scene.

On Saturday, just before 3am police were called to Port Wakefield Rd after reports of a Toyota Kluger driving recklessly.

It is understood the driver misjudged a right hand turn onto Old Port Wakefield Rd which resulted in the car spinning out of control.

When police arrived at the scene they found the car with airbags deployed, however the driver had left the scene.

Police and PD Enzo unsuccessfully searched the scene.

Fortunately, a short time later a CFS member spotted a man walking about 2km south of the crash.

A 27-year-old Virginia man – who was soaking wet after wandering through a nearby waterway – was breath tested and allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.158.

He was reported for drink driving and driving without due care and lost his licence on the spot for six months.

The car was towed from the scene and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
