A man has been charged with attempted murder over allegedly stabbing two people

A 41-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing two people on Friday night.

Two people have been allegedly stabbed in the northern suburbs on Friday evening, with witnesses detaining the suspect before he was arrested.

Emergency services were called to Coventry Rd, Munno Para around 6.15pm on Friday, after reports of a violent assault.

A man was found with serious injuries to his abdomen, and a 40-year-old woman sustained a laceration to her arm.

The victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody, after witnesses at the scene detained him.

He has been charged with attempted murder and has been refused police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police said the people involved are known to each other and this was not a random incident.

Crime Scene investigators and Northern District CIB detectives also attended the scene, as investigations into the incident continue.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have been driving along Coventry Rd at the time of the incident and would have dashcam footage, is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
