The body of a woman has been discovered off the coast of one of Adelaide’s most popular beaches.
Emergency services were called to Glenelg Jetty, at 7.45pm on Sunday after a witness reported seeing a person floating “unresponsive” in Gulf St Vincent waters.
Police Water Operations Unit diver teams were dispatched, but the woman was not able to be revived on Glenelg beach.
Officers were also scouring the area for CCTV.
The police helicopter was also drafted in to search for evidence.
The jetty was closed and a crime scene was established but has since reopened.
In a statement on Monday morning, police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
It is the second time this week a body has been found in the water near Glenelg Jetty.
On Wednesday, July 26, a woman was walking her dog on beach when she thought she saw a rock in the shallows – only to find to her horror it was the body of a 61-year-old man.
That death was not believed to be suspicious.
