The confidence gained from winning runs is playing a major role in the success of clubs in the Sydney Rugby Union 1st Colts season as is the consistency of teams in a season of ups and down, shock losses and massive wins.

In an entertaining season to date, there are three clubs who stand out form the crowd in Warringah, Sydney University and Randwick who after 10 rounds of the 18-round preliminary season are the most successful teams with eight wins and just two losses each,.

But these three competition favourites have had their own stumbles with Uni a shock loser in round one and Warringah on Saturday going down 32-24 to Randwick.

Randwick and Sydney Uni own the longest winning streaks so far which is reflected by their position at the top of the points ladder.

Sydney Uni put six successive wins on the board from Round 5 to Round 10, with victories over Wildfires (47 v 36), Easts (36 v 21), Two Blues (64 v 12), Norths (47 v 5), Eastwood (41 v 17), and West Harbour (60 v 19).

Randwick also secured six consecutive wins from Round 5 to Round 10, defeating West Harbour (88 v 0), Norths (35 v 24), Souths (43 v 19), Manly (19 v 17), Two Blues (90 v 21), and Warringah (32 v 24).

Gordon and Easts, the two teams who fought out in last year’s grand final, are also strong contenders in Sydney 1st Colts with seven wins and three loses with Gordon fast out of the blocks with five straight wins.

Gordon have frequently scored some of the biggest wins each round including their defeat of the Two Blues (78 v 0) in Round 1, Norths (85 v 7) in Round 2, and Eastwood (75 v 12) in Round 5.

Warringah are another high achiever with massive wins including against Two Blues (78 v 0) in Round 5 and against West Harbour (52 v 7) in Round 2.

Randwick have also notched up big victories, including their 80 v 12 win against Eastwood in Round 1, 88 v 0 win against West Harbour in Round 5 and massive 90 v 21 against Two Blues in Round 9.

Sydney Uni has also demonstrated strong attacking play, notably scoring 87 points against West Harbour in Round 1 (87 v 24) and 60 points against West Harbour in Round 10 (60 v 19).

Easts have also wracked up some memorable scorelines, including their 69 v 24 win against West Harbour in Round 7.

Manly led the competition early but now boast a 6-4 win loss record.

Eastwood and Wildfires are a little more erratic than the top teams, winning 50 per cent of their outings.

The struggling clubs are the winless Two Blues who have frequently been defeated by significant margins while being unable to score themselves - 0 v 78 against Gordon and 0 v 78 against Warringah.

West Harbour have eight losses and two wins and have often being beaten in high-scoring games - by 87 points to Sydney Uni in Round 1 and 88 points to Randwick in Round 5.

Their only two wins of the year have been against the Two Blues (46 v 7) and Souths (45 v 28).

Norths have the same win/loss record and also big points scored against them - 7 v 85 against Gordon in Round 2 and 5 v 47 against Sydney Uni in Round 8.

Their wins were against the Hunter Wildfires (37 v 22) in Round 7 and Two Blues (76 v 33) in Round 10.

Souths started on a high by knocking off Easts but after 10 rounds boats a 8-2 win/loss record.

After beating the defending champions they lost 0 v 52 loss to Manly in Round 3.

Their victories came against Easts (31 v 25) in Round 1 and Norths (42 v 17) in Round 5.

The biggest score is owned by Randwick.

In Round 9 Randwick defeated Two Blues 90 v 21.

They also racked up the second highest score of 88 against West Harbour in Round 5.

Other high scores were the 87 points scored by Sydney Uni against West Harbour in Round 1, 85 points scored by Gordon against Norths in Round 2, 80 points scored by Randwick against Eastwood in Round 1, 78 points scored by Gordon against Two Blues in Round 1, 78 points scored by Warringah against Two Blues in Round 5, 76 points scored by Norths against Two Blues in Round 10 and the 75 points scored by Gordon against Eastwood in Round 5.

There have been multiple occasions where teams have been kept scoreless -

Two Blues scored 0 points against Gordon in Round 1, Souths scored 0 points against Manly in Round 3, Two Blues scored 0 points against Warringah in Round 5 and West Harbour scored 0 points against Randwick in Round 5,

Several teams have demonstrated a strong offensive performance, consistently scoring high points in their matches.

Randwick notably scored 80 points against Eastwood, 47 against Two Blues, 88 against West Harbour, 35 against Norths, 43 against Souths, 19 against Manly, 90 against Two Blues, and 32 against Warringah.

Gordon also boasts a high total score with standout performances like 78 points against Two Blues, 85 against Norths, 48 against West Harbour, 75 against Eastwood, 26 against Manly, 31 against Souths, and 31 against Wildfires.

Sydney Uni has consistently scored high points, including 87 against West Harbour, 19 against Randwick, 19 against Gordon, 47 against Wildfires, 36 against Easts, 64 against Two Blues, 47 against Norths, 41 against Eastwood, and 60 against West Harbour.

Warringah has also shown strong scoring ability, such as 38 against Wildfires, 52 against West Harbour, 28 against Sydney Uni, 78 against Two Blues, 45 against Souths, 28 against Gordon, and 47 against Norths.

Easts have frequently achieved high scores, including 42 against Wildfires, 43 against Norths, 35 against Randwick, 49 against Manly, 69 against West Harbour, 38 against Warringah, and 47 against Eastwood.

Gordon, with a five-match winning streak from Round 1 to Round 5 had big wins against Two Blues (78 v 0), Norths (85 v 7), West Harbour (48 v 5), Sydney Uni (22 v 19), and Eastwood (75 v 12).
