Daily Telegraph racing writer Matt Jones achieved the holy grail of a tipster when he tipped every winner on the seven-race card at the Kensington meeting at Randwick on Wednesday.
Finding more than two winners on a midweek can be tough some weeks, but Jones delivered a bonanza for punters — a $10 all-up on his haul of winners, which included five favourites, would have netted a cool $42,153.27.
“I have never done it before and I’ll probably never do it again,” Jones said.
The first leg was easy, the Gai Waterhouse-Adran Bott-trained Kaakit Akit was one of the shorted-priced favourites of the day and the filly didn’t disappoint, scoring and all-the-way win.
Jones’s best value bet, Sweeping Statement, was up next. The Chris Waller filly jumped at $8.40 on the tote (and $9.50 with TAB Fixed Odds). A great ride by Kerrin McEvoy continued the winning start to the day.

The well backed Sea Of Life ($3.10), which was Jones’s best bet of the day, made it three on the trot. Pumpkin Pie ($2.90) before odds-on pop Positive Peace ($1.50) extended Jones’ winning streak to five.
Black Magnum ($2.90) took Jones within a win of the magic seven when it held on to win race six. Then it all came down to the Team Hawkes-trained Feather.
“The one I was least confident in was the last race,” Jones said.
But he need not have worried as Feather stormed down the outside to win at $6.50.
But as with all punting stories, there was a painful kick in the tail to his rare feat.
“I didn’t gamble anything the whole day!” he said.
“The day actually started really badly, I locked myself out of my house then I left my laptop at the office and had to make a detour on my way to Randwick.
“At least now the boys can’t bag me at the pub on Sunday afternoon for my tips.”
And what about a tip for the races on Saturday?
“I think God Of Thunder in the last at Warwick Farm will run well,” he said.

MATT JONES’S TOP PICKS
RANDWICK-KENSINGTON
BEST BET: SEA OF LIFE (Race 3, No.1)
Any horse that can make up ground at Canterbury of late must be going pretty well and he’s ready to run big again over a more suitable trip and track.
NEXT BEST: POSITIVE PEACE (Race 5, No.2)
She’s a mare in form and did it easily last start when leading all the way and that can happen again from barrier one. She doesn’t have James McDonald on this time but loses nothing with Nash Rawiller.
BEST VALUE: SWEEPING STATEMENT (Race 2, No.7)
She got trapped wide last start which didn’t help and she was probably entitled to drop out of it late but didn’t. She’ had five-straight placings and now it’s time for a win.
LATEST BETTING: TAB FIXED ODDS
QUADDIE
Race 4: 1, 4, 6
Race 5: 1, 2, 3
Race 6: 1, 4
Race 7: 4, 6, 10
TRAINER TO WATCH
There’s no reason why GAI WATERHOUSE and ADRIAN BOTT can’t take out the first two races on the card, while Frenzied — in race four race — looks over the odds.
JOCKEY TO WATCH
NASH RAWILLER can extend his lead in the metropolitan jockeys’ title race with rides on Kaakit Akit, Kinship, Positive Peace and Clear The Beach.

RACE 1 (2.20pm)
Osamu comes out to run on Saturday so it’s an open race. We haven’t seen Volterra since his second to Hinchbeast on debut more than two months ago as a $1.90 hope. His trial was fair but not as good as Osamu’s. He does have a much better gate though. Pressita’s connections have high hopes for her before her debut run. She trialled nicely alongside Golden Gift winner Dame Giselle and is the value hope of the race. The Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott filly Kaakit Akit looked pretty classy in her only trial.
BET: KAAKIT AKIT to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Volterra $5-$2.80, Kaakit Akit $5-$2.30 ($1,500 @ $2.90, $700 @ $2.30)
RACE 2 (2.55pm)
You Rang is a free-running type who has been given two trials before her first-up 1100m run which indicates she’s very forward and ready to win for a top stable/jockey combination. First starter Seraglio won her only trial after given a shaken up which showcased her turn of foot and she’ll likely stalk them before being let go down the outside. Sweeping Statement got trapped wide last start but stuck on very well for third. With an easier run in transit this time, she gets her chance. Our Fraulein will be better suited by the Kensington track.
BET: SWEEPING STATEMENT to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Seraglio $4.40-$3.50 ($2,000 @ $3.90, $1,000 @ $3.60), You Rang $1.75-$1.95-$1.75 ($2,000 @ $1.95, $800 @ $1.90, $1,200 @ $1.80, $1,000 @ $1.75)
RACE 3 (3.30pm)
This sets up well for Sea Of Life. He stormed home from the back of the field to run second at Canterbury last start and not many horses have been doing that there this summer and he gets the extra ground he’s been looking for. California August just got held up for a stride in the straight last time when second, although he wouldn’t have got the leader. Kinship was in the same race and raced wide. He’s got Nash Rawiller on now. Dancing Gidget will have the last crack at them.
BET: SEA OF LIFE to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Sea Of Life $3.10-$2.50 ($500 x (6) @ $3/$2.90/$2.80/$2.70/$2.60/$2.50, $3,500 @ $2.90), Shosha $6.50-$5, Our Girl Sniti $10-$11-$8.50
RACE 4 (4.05pm)
Punters look set to give Austria another chance after she placed for the sixth time last start. She’s only won once from 12 attempts and this could be the last time they stick with her if she doesn’t win one. Pumpkin Pie goes to 1800m for the first time but she should run it considering she was strong through the line over the tough Randwick mile last start and drops in grade. If the best version of Boomtown Rat turns up he’s a hope while the outsider Frenzied isn’t the roughest.
BET: PUMPKIN PIE to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Pumpkin Pie $4.20-$4.60-$4 ($1,000 @ $4.40), Frenzied $11-$8
RACE 5 (4.40pm)
Positive Peace may try to lead all the way again. If she gets the lead to herself, she’s ready to run out 1550m for the first time after looking strong through the line over 1400m last start. Welsh Legend drops in grade and will enjoy getting back on top of the ground and the trip isn’t a worry for her at all. Oksal is on a quick back-up after a tough win last time and she can settle closer this time. Brazilica has been freshened for this.
BET: POSITIVE PEACE to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Positive Peace $1.95-$1.70 ($1,000 @ $1.95), Ikara Miss $19-$14
RACE 6 (5.15pm)
Black Magnum goes very well first-up and his trial win suggests that won’t change here and he’ll tuck in behind the speed and hit the line hard. Twirling Moss is back in trip and in grade after running behind the talented Pandemic last start. He doesn’t want any rain bore the race. Clear The Beach can lead and give a good sight.
BET: BLACK MAGNUM to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Black Magnum $4-$2.70, Clear The Beach $8-$4.80, Phoenix River $5-$3.50
RACE 7 (5.50pm)
Feather was unlucky not to win on the Kenso two starts back and if she can get a cushy run from the gate she can produce last. Bubbles Ball will get the perfect run in the race and she’s got to take advantage of it this time. She’s consistent but needs to convert some seconds into firsts. The Man drops slightly in grade and will appreciate the 1400m even though it’s his first try at it. High Low Bet will be the one to watch with a light weight after a very good first-up run.
BET: FEATHER to win.
TAB MARKET MOVERS: Time Raid $18-$12, The Man $5-$4.20, Star Of O’Reilly $13-$9.50, Feather $4.80-$4.20 ($1,500 @ $4.20, $300win x $600place @ $4.20/$1.70)
