‘Put everything else off’: Hinkley encourages fans to get behind their team at Adelaide Oval

Tickets are still available for Port Adelaide’s must-win match against GWS, with coach Ken Hinkley appealing to fans to fill the empty seats.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has issued a call to arms for fans to fill the stadium for their do-or-die semi final game against the Greater Western Sydney Giants at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Tickets are still available for Port Adelaide’s must-win match, and Hinkley said it was “incredibly important” for fans to get behind the players.

AFL ticket sales estimates show that more than 40,000 fans are expected to pour into Adelaide Oval for the game.

“Our fans will get there and they’ll be loud and proud and they’ll be strong,” Hinkley said on Friday.

“We need them there.”

He encouraged fans to prioritise coming to the game to support their team.

“If anyone is thinking about whether they have or they haven’t got an opportunity, I’d put everything else off and try and come to the footy,” Hinkley said.

“We know GWS are not typically a big drawing team so we need all the Port people who are available on a beautiful night to come and watch their side, and represent their side and be really proud of who they are.”

An AFL spokeswoman said the “fantastic weather forecast” should entice fans in droves to fill seats.

Fans can expect Saturday’s weather forecast to be sunny with a top of 24C.

“We would encourage South Australian footy fans turn up on Saturday night,” the spokeswoman said.

“This is the only final to be played in Adelaide and with tickets still available.”

The remaining tickets start at $35 for adults and $10 for kids.
