DAY ONE REVIEW
A Jessica Searle goal in the dying minutes has sealed victory for Glenelg in a tense and tight clash to open the SANFL Girls Intrastate Carnival.
The Tigers edged out Woodville-West Torrens by seven points in the hotly contested affair at Eastern Parade Reserve, beginning their U15 tournament in winning fashion on Tuesday.
Glenelg trailed by nine points heading into the last quarter before Elise Hahn goaled early to get her side right back into the contest.
The Tigers then peppered the goal unsuccessfully before finally breaking through after Morphettville Park junior Searle was awarded a free kick in the ruck and kicked truly.
However it was the Eagles who prevailed in the U17 match, proving too strong in a 45-9 victory.
In Tuesday’s other live streamed clashes, North Adelaide secured a strong 45-20 win over Central District in the U15 contest at X Convenience Oval before smashing the Dogs 52-0 in the U17s.

PREVIEW
North Adelaide is ready to make their mark against the state’s best young female footy sides at the SANFL U17 and U15 Girls Intrastate Carnival.
The state’s top country and suburban players come together to compete for SANFL clubs from Tuesday, October 8 to Thursday, October 10 and you can watch the action from 12 games LIVE and EXCLUSIVE right here on The Advertiser website and KommunityTV.
The action kicks off with two double headers from Eastern Parade Reserve and X Convenience Oval.
North Adelaide has put together strong sides in both the U15 and U17 age groups and will feature on all three days against Central (Tuesday), Sturt (Wednesday) and Norwood (Thursday).
Big names such as Crows NGA prospects Caitlin Hardin and U16 All Australian Polly Turner, daughter of former Crows and Carlton player Peter Turner, will be competing for the Roosters.
SANFLW League player Dakota Kendall is also playing.
Roosters Female Football Manager, Kurt Donsberg, said the carnival would give the club’s representatives a chance to prove what they can do on the big stage.
“Our teams are looking good, we’ve got a lot of talent across the squad and we’ve had a bunch of girls come over from the country, which is always good to see,” Donsberg said.
“The carnival is really exciting for us because it gives us that connection to the players, especially from the country, and it gives them an opportunity to standout against tough competition.”
Donsberg said the Roosters were ready to take on what would be strong opponents on all three days.
“The girls are motivated and looking forward to the challenge,” he said.
“I think the talent coming through across the board in SA is super exciting and you’re going to continue to see that during these events as well as the SANFLW season.
“A lot of girls have had a ball in their hands for 10 years now and you’re going to see a real spike in talent soon.
“There’s going to be so many girls getting drafted, so it’s definitely a really exciting time.”
