NRL world up in arms over bunker blunder as no try stalls Panthers comeback

The Panthers forward was robbed of what appeared to be a certain try, with the NRL world left stunned at the decision.

'I failed physics': Stunning no-try call

The Panthers were robbed a try to Moses Leota after a confounding Bunker call cruelled their brave second half comeback against Souths.

In the 61st minute Leota broke free from a tackle and appeared to dot down after charging over Souths fullback Jye Gray.

However, referee Ashley Klein sent it upstairs as no-try for the Bunker to review.

“Moses Leota will score for Penrith and its three in a row,” Andrew Voss said as the Panthers looked to cut the lead to 28-18.

“This is a try, they fall of the tackle the South Sydney defenders,” Michael Ennis added.

“I’ve got no-try, I believe he broke the tackle, but I’ve got a knock-on,” Klein said to the Bunker.

The Bunker agreed with Klein that he broke the tackle and knocked on in the put down.

“I thought he got it down,” Voss said.

“It squeezes out sideways. There is no separation.

“It is downward pressure that makes it squeeze sideways. I know I failed physics, but isn’t it the force of hand on ball that squeezes it sideways?”

“That’s a try,” Ennis added.

“He gets the footy down. Moses Leota can’t believe it.

“Ivan Cleary can’t believe it.”

“That is a try every day of the week since April 20, 1908,” Voss said.
