NRL 2021: Blake Ferguson back with partner Dominique Moraitis, wants contract future sorted

Blake Ferguson has set a deadline for his next NRL contract, topping off a month of massive changes for the Parramatta winger.

The future of CTE: Diagnosing players while they're alive?

Blake Ferguson has good reason for wanting his new NRL deal sorted within the month.
“I’ve promised my son Harlo five bucks a try,” the Parramatta winger laughs.
“He’s only five, but played his first game for De La Salle last weekend.
“Scored a couple of tries too.
“Driving home in the car afterwards, he was even gloating.
“There were a few of others in the family who’d made the same promise as me, so he was ringing everyone.
“I think he made over $70.”
Long regarded as one of the game’s premier wingers, 31-year-old Ferguson is about to embark on a month of real change.
Apart from becoming a footy dad for the first time, or coming off contract with the Eels, this backflipping NRL favourite is also moving back in with partner Dominique Moraitis and their baby girl Luna, just two weeks old.

Having spent the past six months living with cousin Anthony Mundine to sort out some personal issues, the Eels flyers is now “excited” about a new life with his young family — “being the father of a little girl, it’s so different to boys” — while also locking down a new contract at the Eels or elsewhere.
Importantly, Ferguson also says no matter where he signs, that club will likely be getting itself a NSW Origin incumbent.
Already boasting nine games with the Blues, the Wellington product has enjoyed a strong start to the year with Parramatta, who have suggested publicly they will be moving him on after 2021.
Asked if an Origin return was among his goals for this year, the winger said: “Yeah, definitely.
“But nothing is ever given on a silver platter.
“So I plan to earn it.
“Right now, I’m on nine Origin games — and I want to get to double digits.”
Elsewhere, and after enduring a public split with Moraitis, which included the cancellation of a wedding, Ferguson confirmed the pair were now moving into a place of their own.

It was in May last year that the Eels winger first announced plans to marry the Sydney heiress, who is a granddaughter of fruit and vegetable multi-millionaire Nick Moraitis.

Yet when the couple split late in 2020, Ferguson moved in with Mundine, who he credits for helping him sort through some personal issues.

The winger also has two young boys, Harlo and London, to previous partner Bianca Menniti.

“Living with Choc, we’re really close and, for me, he’s always been that ear there to listen,” the winger said.
“His mum, my Aunty Lyn, has also done heaps for me which I’m really grateful for.
“There were a few issues there I had to move on from and I feel like I’ve done that now.
“I’m moving forward, day by day.”
Asked if he wanted to stay in Sydney, Ferguson continued: “I just want to be with a team that wants me.

“Obviously I’d love to stay with Parramatta but if they have other plans, I feel I’ll definitely add value wherever I go.
“So hopefully in the next four weeks that can be sorted
“If we were still talking about this in Round 20, I’d be in some Barney Rubble (trouble).
“But I don’t want to be talking about it after Round 10.”
Which is certainly understandable, given Fergo is now the father of three beautiful children under six.

One of whom, it seems, is set to cost him a fortune in $5 notes.
