Blake Ferguson and fiance Dominique Moraitis split

Parramatta star Blake Ferguson and Sydney heiress Dominique Moraitis have split only months after announcing their engagement.

Blake Ferguson’s fairy-tale romance with Dominique Moraitis is over with Anthony Mundine revealing he has taken the NRL star in following a bombshell wedding cancellation.

In a surprise celebrity separation that has, until now, been kept a secret, Ferguson’s two-year relationship with the Sydney heiress ended late last year when the celebrity couple privately called off their five-month engagement.

Announcing his plan to marry the granddaughter of fruit and vegetable multimillion Nick Moraitis in May, Ferguson moved into Mundine’s south Sydney mansion after the sudden split with his pregnant partner.

“He is actually living with me at the moment,” Mundine said.

“He is family so I will always be there for him. I am here to support and guide him in any way I can. I am helping him get to a good space.”

Both Ferguson’s cousin and mentor, Mundine revealed he had been nursing the Parramatta winger through the relationship breakdown that is understood to have left the former State of Origin star devastated.

“He is doing okay,” Mundine said.

“He is a laid-back type of fella and very relaxed and family orientated. We just like to hang out.”

Ferguson announced his engagement to Dominique in May.

“Yeah we got engaged,” Ferguson said at the time.

“We just ended up doing it. Nothing massive. I am not a romantic. I am planning a wedding and that will be hard but I will just let the missus do it all.”

Rumours of a split emerged late last year after photographs featuring Ferguson were removed from Dominique’s Instagram account.

The celebrity couple began dating in January 2019 and made their relationship public at the Dally M award ceremony later that year.

Preparing to take on Michael Zerafa in what is expected to be his final fight, Mundine said the marriage cancellation would not affect Ferguson’s football.

Coming off an injury interrupted season and off contract at the end of the year, the former Rooster will be out to earn a career extending deal.

“He is going great guns,” Mundine said.

“He is looking at a massive year and I reckon he will have the best year he has ever had.

“I have been speaking to him and he told me that this going to be his monster year. He wants to prove again that he is one of the best players out there. He obviously has the talent and the skill, now he is just out to get the performance. I can’t wait to see what he is going to do.”

Mundine has urged Ferguson to stay out of the limelight and stay full focused on his football.

“What worries me is when he is out and about and led astray by different characters,” Mundine said.

“Hanging around with the wrong crowd basically.”

Ferguson has lived with Mundine on and off since the world champion boxer took him in after he was sacked by the Raiders in 2013.

“He‘s always struck true to his own principles and tried to instil that into me.”

“I looked up to him since I was a kid, for me to see him nearly every day it‘s good.”

“I love being his cousin.”
