Volleyball SA men’s and women’s grand finals set to be exclusively live streamed by The Advertiser

South Adelaide captain Sarah Gould knows about the heartache of losing grand finals too well.
The Panthers’ State League volleyball women’s skipper was part of back-to-back losing grand finals in 2017 and 2018.
Gould also featured in a devastating preliminary final loss last year.
Now, she is desperate to rewrite history when the Panthers take on USC Lions in this Saturday’s grand final.

“We have been striving for this grand final for a long time,” Gould said.
“The last time our league women won a premiership was in 2005.
“Those few times were heartbreaking, to come so far and to lose it in the end.
“There were a few tears shed.
“I’ve been part of the league side for 10 years now, this is my tenth year, so hopefully we will come away with a win this time.”
South Adelaide ended the minor round second with a 10-5 record and beat Norwood in last week’s preliminary final to earn a berth in the title decider.
The Panthers have played USC Lions four times this year, including during the first round of the finals, and have only beaten them once.
Gould said her side would enter the decider as the underdogs and was looking forward to the clash being live streamed.
“It’s going to be a great challenge for us and I am really looking forward to having a great game of volleyball to finish the season
Gould will also celebrate her 28th birthday on Saturday and said a victory would make the day even more special.
“We’ve been working so hard for so long so it would be so good to be able to record the team with a win,” Gould said.
The men’s grand final between the Norwood Bears and Mt Lofty Rangers was also live streamed by The Advertiser on Saturday.
First-year captain Ben Williamson said his club had built a big rivalry with the Bears over the past few years and a victory would mean so much.
“We all know each other, so it’s all about beating your mates,” Williamson, 23, said.
“We were worried we weren’t going to even get a season this year with COVID.
“So to be able to put a full season together with a grand final is awesome.
“And (the live stream) is super exciting to hopefully get more people watching.”
