In a normal year, these SA-born volleyball stars would be hitting the court in different countries across the world.
But 2020 is no normal year, with the coronavirus pandemic halting international travel and sporting competitions.
COVID-19 has however been a silver lining for the state’s men’s and women’s top flight competitions, as a host of global talents have returned home to play for their local clubs.
Croweaters Rebecca Reeve (USC Lion), Jordan Colotti, Sam Boehm (both Mt Lofty), Harrison Peacock and Jackson Holland (both Norwood) have strengthened the state leagues this season with their global experience.
The quintet will feature in Saturday’s grand finals, which will be exclusively live streamed on advertiser.com.au from 1.50pm.
Colotti will line up with Mt Lofty against Norwood, as his club bids for a third-straight premiership.
The 24-year-old was not part of the Rangers’ past two flags, because he was competing in Denmark with Nordenskov.
Colotti was set to sign a contract with German club Freieurg before COVID and a persistent injury to his shoulder.
“I think SA’s state league is one of the best in Australia,” Colotti said.
“It’s been really competitive this year, so it’s been a lot of fun.
“It’s been pretty unreal having Harry Peacock and Sam Boehm back, the more experienced guys, who have played for a lot longer overseas, upholding a good standard of volleyball.”
Colotti won a second tier title with the Rangers in 2011, but was yet to claim a senior flag.
“I played half a season of league in 2021 but then I moved to Canberra and played overseas so I haven’t actually won a premiership yet in the State League,” Colotti said.

“It would be unreal to win the premiership at home, especially in front of my family who never really get to see me play,” he said.
Reeve would usually be competing overseas with the Australian women’s squad between May and September.
But she said playing for USC Lion, her junior club, had been special.
Reeve hoped to help the team to success in the decider against South Adelaide, after losing last year’s grand final.
“It’s been good to spend a little time at home and go back to where we all started,” Reeve said.
“I’ve got to play with those I have grown up with and see the younger kids come through.
“I’ve loved it.”
