A big Sunday of SANFL action – including Sturt and Norwood’s important clash – has been live streamed and you can catch the full match replays here.

Sturt has continued its rise as one of the sides to watch this season after taking care of SANFL rival Norwood at home on Sunday.

Double Blues forward Abe Davis booted six goals to lead his side to the 12.9 (81) to 7.11 (53) victory over the Redlegs, which was one of three matches live streamed here by The Advertiser across the weekend.

Davis starred alongside James Battersby and Patrick Wilson as Sturt recorded its fourth win of the season and moved equal top of the ladder in a four-way logjam alongside North Adelaide, Glenelg and Adelaide.

The Double Blues led all day and were much more efficient going forward than the young Norwood outfit.

The defeat dropped the Redlegs out of the top four.

Glenelg consolidated its top four spot with a nervy one-point victory over South Adelaide in their big SANFLW clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers nearly paid the price for some errant kicking but scraped home 35-34.

The defeat keeps South Adelaide just out of the top four.

REPLAY: BATTLE OF YOUNG GUNS

Tom Scully has a name immediately recognisable to most football fans.

But as far as comparisons go between the emerging 17-year-old West Adelaide forward and his former AFL No. 1 pick namesake, they end just about there.

This Scully – a 204cm key forward who has set the SANFL under-18 competition alight this season – has already begun forging his own path to the elite level.

The young Blood has booted 26 goals in the opening five matches for West, including two bags of seven and another of six.

Scully will be one of the key prospects to watch this Saturday when his side takes on North Adelaide, with the match live streamed on The Advertiser website from 11.45am.

It will be the opening game of a weekend live stream triple-header also featuring Sturt and Norwood (league) as well as Glenelg and South (women’s) on Sunday.

Scully’s ability on the lead, in the air and accuracy in front of goal has put plenty of AFL clubs on notice as he sets out on the path to the draft later this year.

The Christian Brothers College student believed a permanent move forward and extra work on his game entering 2022 were behind his commanding start.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting to come in and kick that many goals right away,” Scully said.

“Playing in the ruck last year with my skinnier frame I got bodied a bit easier, but now playing permanent forward I’ve had the freedom to move around, lead, get separation from my opponent. I think it’s my natural position.

“It’s been a pretty positive start and a bit of a surprise. Now I just want to continue my good run of form.”

Scully was named the Torrens University Cup MVP in round four after booting seven goals against the Eagles, backing up another bag of seven the week before against Central District.

West under-18 coach Paul Streatfield said Scully had “come along in leaps and bounds the past 12 months”.

“The potential for Tom to continue to develop over the next 12 to 24 months is quite big,” Streatfield said.

“It’s pretty unusual to find someone as tall as him that is as co-ordinated with their kicking, but also as good at ground level as what he is.

“There’s no obvious gap in his game and I don’t think he’s yet worked out exactly how good he could be.”

Scully is not the only talented tall prospect coming through West Adelaide with fellow forward Harry Lemmey, who has already featured in the Bloods’ league side, and ruckman Harry Barnett also catching the eye.

West Adelaide’s under-18 clash against North Adelaide will be live streamed from 11.45am on Saturday by The Advertiser and will be followed by two more broadcast matches on Sunday.

Glenelg and South Adelaide will meet in a SANFLW contest at 11.50am before Sturt hosts Norwood in an important league encounter at 2.10pm.
