From a red-hot Queenslander melting his competition, to a rising queen of the court in South Australia, these are the players you need to keep an eye on at the Australian junior grasscourt championships. Find out how to WATCH LIVE.

A red-hot rising star from Queensland, and a future queen of the court from South Australia head up a must-see field of young talent at the Tennis Australia Junior Grasscourt Championships.

The national grasscourt title, a coveted early step toward a successful career in the sport, will go on the line in the Under-12 and Under-14 age groups at the Mildura Lawn Tennis Club.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, KommunityTV has partnered with Tennis Australia to capture the best action for the week and exclusively live stream it across News Corp Australia’s metro and regional mastheads.

The coverage will include all matches from the show court at Mildura across the tournament’s five days, starting from Tuesday, January 2.

The brightest young talents from across the nation are bound to take the spotlight across the week, and we have pulled out some names you should be keeping a close eye on across each age group.

UNDER-12

South Australia’s Hannah Park will ride a wave of momentum into the Australian Grasscourt Championships after winning both the singles and doubles titles at last month’s December Showdown junior tour event.

Park took down fourth-seed and doubles partner Musemma Cilek, who is also a player to keep an eye on in Mildura, in a thrilling three-set final at Melbourne Park.

The South Australian will enter the Under-12 girls draw as the third seed, up against December Showdown quarter-finalist Ava Garner in the first round.

New South Wales young gun Suri Suchovsky, who has spent the year travelling the state’s regional centres and plying her trade against open age opponents, will enter the grasscourt championships as the top seed after finishing runner-up for the Under-12 Australian Junior Hardcourt Championships in October.

ACT young gun Tommy Camus will aim to put the disappointment of a finals loss at Melbourne Park last month behind him on his quest to be crowned Australian champion.

Camus was blown off the court by doubles partner Aidan Chan in the final of the December Showdown, but will be determined to bounce back as he enters Mildura as the top seed in the boys under-12 division.

Camus is no stranger to tournament tennis, and is following in the footsteps of older brother, Charlie Camus, who is Australia’s top ranked player on the ITF junior world circuit.

Fresh off finishing fifth in the Under-14s singles at the Victorian Junior Grasscourt Championships last week, Novak Palombo will return to the Under-12 ranks in Mildura where he enters the tournament as the second seed.

There is no prizes for guessing where Palombo gets his name, and he is already beginning to show a similar work ethic to that which helped his namesake become a world conqueror.

UNDER-14

Queenslander Lucas Han flies into the Australian Junior Grasscourt Championships off the back of an Under-14s sweep at the Victorian titles last week.

Han, who is the top seed in Mildura this week, dropped only a single set on his way to the Under-14 crown at Swan Hill.

That single missed set came in the final against his close friend and title-winning doubles partner Ashton Coster.

Coster is coming off a sensational run at the Victorian titles, and shouldn’t be taken lightly despite coming into the national tournament unseeded.

Fellow unseeded challenger Samarth Patel will offer plenty of firepower after winning a match against open company at the Caloundra Tennis Open last week.

Sydneysider Brooke Komorowski is an unsurprising early frontrunner for the girls Under-14 title after a blockbuster year on the courts.

Aside from winning several junior tour events, Komorowski also reached the finals at the Australian Junior Hardcourt Championships and was runner-up at last month’s December Showdown at Melbourne Park.

Fellow NSW rising star Jennifer Ott, who was forced to retire from her quarter-finals run at the December Showdown, will look to bounce back in the new year as she enters the national titles as the fourth seed.

Ott enjoyed a breakout year on the courts in 2023, taking out the Australian Junior Hardcourt Championship and knocking off rival Komorowski on her way to the title.
