Live stream: South Adelaide face Contax, Garville play Matrics in Netball SA Premier League finals

Contax are through to the grand finals in both the Netball SA Premier and Reserves competitions. ALL REPLAYS from Friday night are now available to watch.

A steely focused Contax have brushed aside hot favourites South Adelaide to charge into the Netball SA Premier League grand final with a stunning 13-goal upset.

Underlining Contax’s superb premier win was the equally remarkable achievement that their reserves outfit is also through to their respective grand final.

South Adelaide went into the major semi-final with only one loss for the whole season, but were always on the back foot against their more committed rivals.

Contax just never allowed South Adelaide to settle or build any sort of momentum as they stretched the margin the longer the contest went.

With their tails up, Contax blew the game wide open in the second half after taking a 27-23 lead to the main break.

South Adelaide will be bitterly disappointed with their performance, but there was no argument who was the better side as Contax registered a dominant 58-45 win.

South Adelaide will now have to regroup for their preliminary final opponent, Garville, who enjoyed a monster win over Matrics in their eliminator.

RESERVES

Led by a stellar performance from Jazmine Noye, a thoroughly focused Contax is through to the reserves grand final after seeing off a committed Matrics in their major semi-final.

It took some time for Contax to break free of their rivals, with only four goals separating both teams at halftime and at the final the change.

But early in the last quarter was where the damage was done as Contax put the foot down to establish what would be a matchwinning lead.

With momentum their friend and Noye racking up the points, Contax cruised to the buzzer to record a 52-44 victory.

Matrics were far from disgraced and will be upbeat knowing they can match it with the more favoured Contax should they get another shot.

But first of all they will have to overcome Oakdale, who had a huge confidence-building win over South Adelaide in their elimination semi-final

PREVIEW

Fresh from beating the same team in the final preliminary round, in-form Garville take on Matrics in the Netball SA Premier minor semi-final, while South Adelaide face reigning premier Contax in the major semi final.

Meanwhile in the reserves, old rivals Matrics and Contax face of while Oakdale take on South Adelaide in the elimination match.

The Panthers, who defeated Contax in both their meetings this season, have a major chance to redeem themselves after just missing out on last year’s grand final when they fell to Matrics by one goal.

“Everyone is really excited and we’re ready to show the netball community what we’ve got on the big stage,” star player Jess Paradiso said.

“We’re expecting the same tough hitout we always have with Contax.

“They’ve got a lot of finals experience so we’re not taking too much from our previous games this year, but we still know we can get it done if we execute what we know we’re good at.”

While the club remains motivated by last year’s painful loss to Matrics, Paradiso said her team was entirely focused on this season and making the big dance.

“We’re confident about our game style and what we’re doing on the court, but we’re also realists – everyone is on an even playing field in finals.

“Having the double chance means we can be a bit more fearless with our play on Friday, so we’re going to do everything we can to get the job done this week and hopefully be preparing for a grand final after.”

Garville was also confident ahead of their clash with Matrics, especially after beating them last Friday.

Matrics and Garville are back at it on Friday night.

“We’re feeling really good at the moment,” coach Kirsty Leonard-Down said.

“We’ve had some really good wins against strong teams and that’s what you want heading into finals.

“Both sides are going to be well prepared for Friday and we know we have to back it up against the same team.”
