Hills NA U17 coach and association co-ordinator Tracy Goodwin was confident they could achieve more success this weekend after winning the U17 championship last year.

“I think overall we’re a really strong association and our players and coaches are passionate and enthusiastic across all age groups once they put the Hills green and blue on,” Goodwin said.

“All of our teams were in the finals last year and we were good enough to win in the U17s, which we were super proud of because these things don’t come easy.

“That passion and fire never dies and you go in with new teams every year with that same want to win.

“Our teams can go far, and will go far, and if we didn’t believe that we wouldn’t be competing.”

Goodwin’s U17 side will not be as experienced as the team she led last year, but it still had the talent to compete.

She also believed the Hills players would benefit from the experience of competing against SA country’s best.

The Hills Netball Association is confident of more success this weekend.

“A lot of the players in the U17s are quite young, around the 15-16 age group, but it means they’re very excited and ready to go,” she said.

“I think all of our players have the ability to compete across all age groups, they’ve been selected for a reason.

“It is going to be a wonderful experience overall, just to be part of it is fantastic.

“The moment players from any of the associations walk into Netball SA Stadium and see so many other talented players, it’s exhilarating for them and being able to go up against the best is always valuable. Netball SA does the event super well and we’re so lucky to be able to participate.”

The action will begin at 8.45am on Saturday with two senior games – Barossa, Light and Gawler taking on Southern Hills and Western Eyre taking on the Mid South East.
