Contax should be set for another big Premier League season after retaining most of its 2023 premiership list.

The club has lost Kate Walsh as well as star defender Jessie Grenvold to Super Netball’s Mavericks but has signed young gun attacker Emily Laird from South Adelaide.

Laird, who also represents the SA U19s, will look to reach another level in the Premier League this year, while star captain Chelsea Blackman will be one to watch defensively again this season.

Garville has welcomed star attacker Nyah Allen back to the fold after her time with Collingwood in Super Netball throughout the last four seasons in a move which should see the side improve.

Tahlia Dnistrjanski will also return for another season with the club after a strong 2023 campaign.

Garville should be strong enough for another finals campaign this season and will look to push other contenders in Contax, Matrics and South Adelaide yet again.

The acquisition of former Tango young gun and U17 state star Jemma Kelly as well as the continued rise of versatile youngster Lucy Voyvodic should be significant for Matrics’ future, with Voyvodic expected to get good run in the Premier League throughout the 2024 season.

Last season’s runner-up, Matrics has retained most of its list after losing the big dance to Contax and welcomed new head coach Amanda Shattock for 2024.

The side has lost key goaler Lauren Frew to the Thunderbirds but should go far yet again this season and will be right in the mix for a premiership.

METRO JETS

Last season: 8th

Team list: Tayla Bevis, Chloe Britten, Georgia Capetanakis, Caitlin Ferguson, Shelby Finlay, Madison Hughes, Alyssa Jones, Rhianne Kaluza, Bridget Kuerschner, Monet Lyle, Lily Massey, Jessie Miller, Lucy Palmer, Maggie Pearce, Tamsin Petzer, Monique Raidis, Mackenzies Rathjen, Rebecca Taheny, Kleo Trajovic, Lily Weckert

Metro Jets will look to improve on last year’s bottom finish behind the likes of star shooter Bec Taheny and other reliable names like Jessie Miller and Bridget Kuerschner.

Despite the losses of Alice Gerlach and Jemma Kelly, the Jets should remain competitive against most sides in 2024.

Taheny was one of the standout attackers in the competition last season and will be hoping to repeat that effort for the club this year.

The Jaguars have been busy in the pre-season, recruiting Tahlia Dillon and Ashleigh Haigh from Barmera as well as Dayna Schimid from Tango.

The club saw gradual improvement from a number of youngsters in 2023 and will be looking for the same again in 2024 with hopes of moving up the ladder.

Rising star Sienna Burns will return this year, the U19 state star set to reach another gear in the midcourt.

Oakdale has picked up WA Premier League player Ella Sigley as well as Amy Bull from Tango and will be looking to make a finals push this season after just missing out in 2023.

Promising goaler Poppy Gilfillan-Silk will play for the side again this season after a strong 2023 and should continue to combine with captain Asha Thurlow.

Thurlow is coming off of a fantastic season as top scorer in the league and will be one to watch for Oakdale in 2024.

SOUTH ADELAIDE

Last season: 3rd

Team list: Jasmine Abbott, Lucy Bussenshutt, Ashleigh Bray, Georgia Brown, Lucy Dickson, Bianca Drum, Lauren Gibbons, Layla Hearne, Maggie Kerr, Sophie Killick, Bethany Lane, Emily Macmillan, Maddison McDonald, Brenna McKay, Ellish McKay, Jessica Paradiso, Caitlin Ralston, Eliza Riggall, Lauren Ross, Luella Schroder, Hayley Stevens, Sarah Stewart, Charlotte Veart, Alicia Watt

South Adelaide came agonisingly close to a grand final appearance last season, losing to Matrics by a goal in the preliminary final.

The Panthers should go close again this year having retained the likes of star attacker Jess Paradiso and leaders Ellish and Breanna McKay.

If Paradiso can shine in the frontcourt again this year, her side could take the next step and achieve the ultimate success.

TANGO

Last season: 6th

Team list: Amelia Anderson, Amelia Bennett, Chelsea Burns, Lilli Bennett, Jacoba Clough, Kyla-Jo Dudojc, Stephanie Flego, Brianna Gibbs, Tenille Gray, Emily Green, Rachel Jeynes, Hannah Lenthall, Abbie Pascoe, Coco Patterson, Abbigail Schmidt, Mikayla Sheffield, Alyse Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Laura Worden

Tango has obtained the services of former Garville shooter Jacoba Clough to combine with Tenille Gray in the frontcourt this season.

A standout in 2023, Clough has had a strong pre-season and should be one of the top performers for her new club.

Young midcourter Brianna Gibbs has also signed on with the club after another promising season in 2023 and will play an important role again this year.
