But the boys final needed a goal 60 seconds from the end to settle it as St Vincent’s Primary grabbed a two-point success over Villanova College.
In the girls, there was little to suggest Marymount would eventually run away with the game early on as the teams played out a tight, defensive first quarter.
But that quickly changed as Marymount came out firing in the second term. They piled on the pressure with 20 unanswered points and took a well deserved lead into halftime.
The one-way traffic continued in the third and fourth quarter with Marymount dominating the ball. Smith was awarded best on ground.
In the boys game, Villanova College kicked out to a seven-point lead at quarter time.
St Vincent’s fought back in the second term but Villanova were able to hold a one-goal lead at halftime.
Both sides booted majors in the third quarter, with St Vincent’s also picking up a behind on the siren to bring it to a one-goal difference.
As time ticked down, back to back behinds from St Vincent’s had Villonova under pressure and with just one minute remaining St Vincent’s slotted one through thanks to a free kick right in front.
Villonava quickly marched down field with seconds remaining before the siren sounded with the scores at 22-20.
Gritty midfielder Kye Rischitelli was named best on ground.
