The next generation of South Adelaide and Sturt went head-to-head in an exclusive live stream of the SANFL U13 and U14 boys on Friday night. See the replays here.

Fostering stronger relationships with its local clubs is helping South Adelaide unearth the next generation of players, according to talent manager Mark Clayton.

Youngsters from a mix of city and country clubs powered the Panthers under-13 and under-14 boys sides to wins at Noarlunga on Friday night.

And both of the SANFL Development Leagues matches were exclusively live streamed here by The Advertiser.

REPLAY: SOUTH v STURT (U13)

Speaking before the matches Clayton said South’s success in recent years of AFL draftees and promoting local talent to its senior sides had been helped by healthy ties with its local clubs.

“Our zone clubs from the Southern Football League, Great Southern Football League and Kangaroo Island are so important to us,” Clayton said.

“We rely heavily on them and they do a really good job of providing us with talented players to come out and be involved in these junior teams.”

Unlike most of its rivals, South plays both metropolitan and regional talent in its development squads with its country zone conveniently close to Noarlunga.

The SANFL Development Leagues, which feature under-13, 14 and 15 boys as well as under-14 and 16 girls competitions, are the first stepping stones in the pathway to senior state league football.

In 2022, The Advertiser will stream weekly matches from the competition for the first time.

The under-13 game will get underway from 5.30pm at Noarlunga, followed by the under-14 clash at 6.50pm.
