EARLIER: RESERVES GRAND FINAL PREVIEW

A host of AFL draft prospects – headlined by Glenelg excitement machine Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera – will be on show in Sunday’s SANFL reserves grand final at Adelaide Oval.

While the game will follow the AFL under-19s state clash between South Australia and the Allies, which recruiters will closely scrutinise, Wanganeen-Milera will be hoping to further push his draft case as the Tigers try to complete the league-reserves double on grand final day.

The Tigers will battle it out against Central from midday on Sunday for the reserves premiership. The game will be live streamed at advertiser.com.au.

Already touted as a top-10 draft pick this year, Wanganeen-Milera has played four league games this season, including the final minor round series against Port Adelaide, but has been overlooked for Glenelg’s league finals campaign.

State under-19 coach Tony Bamford has described Wanganeen-Milera, who is the nephew of Essendon and Port Adelaide great Gavin Wanganeen, as “an unbelievably good ball user whose running patterns, at the moment, are as good as anyone’s for a winger’’.

“He’s athletically gifted, quick, and, as a wingman, has a great ability to get up and down the ground,’’ he said.

A renowned goalkicker who is capable of taking a big mark, Wanganeen-Milera’s explosiveness could be matched on Sunday by Crows Next Generation Academy prospect Isaiah Dudley, who is one of three Bulldogs who played in last week’s under-19 state clash against Western Australia at Perth Stadium prior to the AFL grand final.

Shay Linke and Lachlan Grubb were the others.

The trio missed Central’s thrilling four-point win against Woodville-West Torrens in last week’s reserves preliminary final but are back for the big dance.

Dudley kicked a team-high three goals for SA and looms as a potential matchwinner with his game-breaking talent and goal sense.

The Dogs have fought their way through to the grand final after finishing the minor round in fifth spot.

They thrashed West Adelaide by 70 points in the elimination final and beat Sturt convincingly by 39 points in the first semi before kicking the last goal in the dying seconds of a low-scoring preliminary final to upset the Eagles.

In contrast, Glenelg finished minor premier – five wins clear of second-placed Woodville-West Torrens – and beat the Eagles by 14 points in the second semi-final.

The Tigers, who will meet the Eagles in the league grand final, will have their reserves team boosted by the late inclusion of three players who will be trimmed from their 25-man league squad.

The game starts at noon and will be live streamed on advertiser.com.au.
