City and country will collide when the state’s top underage hockey players meet in a long weekend festival of the sport in Adelaide.

The Hockey SA under-15 and under-18 Zone Championships and under-13 State Championships, featuring representative teams from suburban and regional districts, will take place from June 12-14 at four venues across the city.
For the first time, the tournament’s grand finals on will be exclusively live streamed by The Advertiser and The Messenger.
Six boys and girls deciders of the premier statewide competitions for juniors will be broadcast on advertiser.com.au from the State Hockey Centre, Gepps Cross from 8am Monday.
Under-13 girls grand final – Barossa v Adelaide
Under-13 boys grand final – Adelaide v Barossa
Port Adelaide Hockey Club midfielder Isaac Anderson will represent the City West Mariners in the under-16 Zone Championships.
The 13-year-old said a healthy complement of state representatives should help push his side deep into the tournament.
“Hopefully we should do well and make the final, but you never know,” said Isaac, who followed his Australian masters representative mother Rebecca into the sport.
“I’m just looking to a weekend of hockey. It should be fun and we have a pretty good team.”

For Emma Mamerow – who will play for Barossa/Riverland – hockey also runs in the blood.
The Nuriootpa Hockey Club member’s mother Sharon and her grandparents all played the sport, inspiring her to follow in their footsteps.
“Getting the chance to play at the Mate (State Hockey Centre) Stadium is going to great, I’ve never played there before,” Emma, 15, said.
“It’s very cool the grand finals will be live streamed.
“I don’t think my extended family will be able to come because it’s too far away, so hopefully we make the final and they can watch.”
Under-18 girls grand final – City West Mariners v City East Strikers
Five zones – Barossa/Riverland, City East Strikers, City West Mariners, Country West and Mid North – will compete in each of the under-15 and under-18 tournaments.
In the under-13 State Championships, Seacliff, Barossa Valley, North East, Forestville, Burnside, Yorke Peninsula, Port Lincoln, Grange Royals, Upper South East Adelaide, Lower South East will face off for the boys and girls titles.
Regional Victorian team Sunraysia was also set to take part in the latter, but were unfortunately forced to pull out when the state went into lockdown and will not compete.
