After recently missing out on nationals, Robert Gaze’s Central District division one U18s side is ready to spring an upset over Southern Tigers in Friday’s big dance.
The side, led by young guns Spencer Gaze and Deng Manyang, has been on a tear to finish the season, but will be the underdog against the division’s top team this year.
“We’re all feeling really good about Friday and preparation has been great. We’ve really come together as a team in the last few weeks and we’ve seen the result of that,” coach Gaze said.
“It’s going to be a tough game – Southern is well drilled, well coached and they play the game the right way.
“They’ve got great shooters and good size, so we know we’ll need to be at our best, but if we can continue to play the team-oriented game we have this year, we’ll be a good chance.”
