A huge first half performance by the Eagles booked their spot in the semi-finals after they led the Tigers 10.7 to 2.1 at half-time on Saturday.

Glenelg managed to kick four goals to zero in the third quarter and whittle the 54-point deficit down to 29 at the last change, but weren’t able to run over the opposition in the final term.

Young gun Adam D’Aloia starred for the Eagles, racking up a game-high 28 touches and 10 tackles, while Jay Watson booted four goals in the 13.12 (90) to 8.5 (53) win.

In the second match of the day, North put a strangehold on West after half-time to book a date with minor premier Sturt in the semi-finals next week.

The Bloods held a four-point lead at the main break, only for the Roosters to restrict keep them goalless from that point on and salute 14.10 (94) to 6.3 (39).

West will now play the Eagles in a do-or-die semi-final next week.

PREVIEW: DRAFT HOPEFUL SET FOR FINALS CHARGE

Adam D’Aloia has left little out on the field this season.

Named South Australia’s MVP at the national championships after a standout carnival captaining the state, a stellar campaign with Woodville-West Torrens following on from a best on ground medal in last year’s SANFL under-18 grand final as a 17-year-old and it’s fair to say the prolific midfielder has proven his ability.

But, despite the string of accomplishments, D’Aloia wants to finish his season with a flourish.

The young Eagle will now eye team success as he hunts a SANFL reserves premiership.

D’Aloia and Woodville-West Torrens will face Glenelg in the reserves elimination final on Saturday.

Both that game and the qualifying final between North Adelaide and West Adelaide will be live streamed here by KommunityTV.

“Playing in the reserves team in the back half of this year heading into finals has been pretty exciting,” D’Aloia, 18, said.

“The boys have been really welcoming and I’ve just come in trying to play a role for the team, which I think I’ve done pretty well, so adapting hasn’t been too bad.

“First and foremost I just want to get some team success with the boys and go all the way, then individually show I can step up in the big games.”

While another strong performance on Saturday will only enhance D’Aloia’s AFL Draft credentials ahead of next month’s national combine, the Henley Sharks and St Michael’s College product already has plenty of impressive displays under his belt in 2022.

The strong inside midfielder averaged 23.5 disposals, 14 contested possessions and 6.5 tackles per game earlier this year at the national championships.

His average of 133 ranking points was second only to potential No.1 pick Will Ashcroft.

More recently, he has starred in the SANFL reserves and has been the Eagles’ best in their past two outings.

“The national championships were a good opportunity to test myself against the best players in the country,” said D’Aloia, who was set to be presented the John Halbert Medal on Wednesday night as SA’s championships MVP.

“I think I held my own and played some good footy, so I took a lot of confidence from that.”

Eagles reserves coach Brad Graham hoped D’Aloia’s strong form would help propel the side in the upcoming finals series.

“Adam’s a no-fuss player who does the fundamentals really well and now he’s starting to add some flair into his game,” Graham said.

“We’ve seen him use his left foot really well, find handballs and find space where others can’t.

“He’s been playing above the level the last couple of games and it’s been really exciting.”

Woodville-West Torrens’ reserves elimination final against Glenelg will be broadcast live here from 11am Saturday by KommunityTV.

North Adelaide and West Adelaide’s qualifying final will also be live streamed from 1.30pm.
