Adelaide United’s squad signed off its season with dress-up fun when coach Marco Kurz shouted his men a long lunch at the Walkerville Bowling Club to say his last goodbyes.
Kurz, 49, and Vince Lia, 34, (off contract) Scott Galloway, 24, (Melbourne City), Papa Babacar Diawara, 31, (off contract), Jordan Thomassen, 26, (loan deal ended), Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, 20, (Western United) and assistant coaches Filip Tapalovic and Frank Juric are all leaving the club.
After the German thanked his men at the bowling club some of the Reds carried on with the jovial theme at a couple of night clubs in Rundle Street on Wednesday night.
The Reds can be proud of their season which cruelly ended in a penalty shootout last Friday.
Adelaide took the game to Premier’s Plate winner Perth Glory but came within a whisker of earning the club a fourth grand final berth.
The thrilling 3-3 draw and extra time 5-4 shootout win to Glory has been touted as the best A-League match of all time.
It came after Kurz’s men claimed a second FFA Cup trophy beating Sydney FC 2-1 in October.
Kurz is expected to return to Germany next week, so too is Tapalovic.
